SEMINAR – Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Program:

Our Fall Seminar was organized with speakers from 7 countries and 4 continents – North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Complementing our own global team of savvy and experienced labor and employment lawyers from the U.S, China, England and France, we were proud to welcome our colleagues from Gleiss Lutz from Germany, Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal from Argentina and Stibbe from The Netherlands, part of our global network of partner firms.

This program showcased the international reach of our offices and partner firms to cover a range of international labor and employment issues. The program was in three sessions and the topics included:

  • Results of Proskauer’s 2nd Annual Social Media Survey and the latest NLRB developments on social media policies and cases
  • Cross-cultural differences in Labor and Employment Law and the practical consequences
  • An overview of the fast-developing labor and employment regime in China

An overriding theme of the program was how labor and employment law in different jurisdictions is driven by differences in underlying legal systems, cultures and historical experiences and the practical challenges that these differences create for legal and HR professionals when dealing with cross-border issues. In this program, our international panel explored these differences, focusing on their practical implications to provide practical tips to ensure the smooth management of cross-border HR issues to help HR professionals and in-house lawyers manage the expectations of their business clients.
